Cruising the Baltic

Pirita Marina, Tallinn, October 2019

It’s late in the season here in the Gulf of Finland and I wonder what the plan is with the sweet little Swede?

To set sail back home at this time of the year means almost certain encounters with the autumn Baltic gales and icy conditions. Perhaps the plan is to winter the yacht here while the skipper returns back home?

It’s a sunny day here today but icy. The temperature hovers just above zero and with the wind chill…! There have been a few boats out sailing in Tallinn Bay but overall, the marina is deserted, many boats still afloat but devoid of people.

Closed for the Winter

Makes me glad to have ‘Blue based in Cape Town. At least there we get to sail all year round.
